Colour Correcting Is the Pro Makeup Secret You Need to Try
If you suffer from redness, discolouration and dark circles you should look to colour correcting as a way to create an even-toned canvas before applying foundation. Colour correcting requires some basic knowledge of the colour wheel and how colours cancel each other out, but no fear we are here to show you just how to colour correct like a pro. The Beauty Editor's resident makeup artist Magdalena Smyczek has all the advice you need to master the art of colour correcting.
For redness: Use a green-hued concealer to neutralise redness in the skin, whether this is due to rosacea, blemishes, scarring or broken capillaries.
For dullness: Dull skin can be brightened up with a lilac powder. On darker skin tones, use a slightly yellow-toned powder instead.
For dark circles: Before applying your under-eye concealer pat a little peach corrector onto the dark area if you have a fair skin tone. For medium to dark skin tones use an orange corrector.
Top tip: When it comes to correctors apply a little and layer up gradually. You can always add more product. You shouldn't be able to see the colour corrector, for instance, if you are correcting redness and apply green it should just tame the redness, you shouldn't see the green it's all about balance.
And remember, use a powder to set creamy formulas so they last.
